Any videos you modify with this site never leave your computer.

Why? Because it would be unnecessary and expensive.

Thanks to WebAssembly, browsers can run many different types of code than they used to be able to run, i.e. JavaScript. (To learn more, check out How it works page.) Because of this, many popular and useful applications and libraries (like FFmpeg) can run directly in your browser. In other words, you don't have to send your data or media to someone else's computer in order to process it.

If the videos you uploaded were processed in the cloud on a server that I maintained, I would have to pay for that server, which would likely mean that I would have to charge for this website.

By using WebAssembly, I can offer this website for free (or for a donation 🤞🏻) while saving hosting costs for me and preserving privacy for you. It's a win-win!

Analytics

This site uses Fathom analytics for privacy-respecting data on traffic and events. Fathom doesn't collect personally identifyible information, which is a big reason why you don't see an annoying cookie banner on this site—we don't need one because this site doesn't track you.
